FAQ
Should I wash with hot or cold water?
Always start with warm water to open the hair cuticle and allow the shampoo to remove dirt and buildup. Finish with a cool rinse to seal the cuticle, which locks in moisture and adds a natural shine
What is the difference between a conditioner and a hair mask?
Conditioners provides lightweight hydration, smoothing the surfaces ( quick rinse) & can be used more frequently
Hair Masks ( like our deep conditioners) are targeted treatments & penetrates deeper & more intense hair hydrations. Hair mask can be used 1 once a week or every other week
How can I protect my hair from heat damage?
If you use blow-dryers, diffusers, or flat irons, a heat protectant is non-negotiable. It creates a barrier that prevents the high temperatures from "cooking" the proteins in your hair. We also recommend styling on the lowest effective heat setting.
Which Joli Naturals products are best for 4 type hair?
For Type 4 hair, the best Joli Naturals products depend on your hair’s moisture needs and routine:
- Coconut Oil Leave In Conditioner — Best for daily moisture, softness, and detangling without weighing down curls and coils. Great for maintaining hydration between wash days.
- Deep Moisturizing Conditioner — Best for dry, brittle, or thirsty Type 4 hair that needs intense hydration and softness during wash day.
- Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner Set — Best for gently cleansing while keeping Type 4 hair moisturized and manageable. Ideal as the foundation of a healthy wash day routine.
For most Type 4 hair routines, using all three together works best:
- Cleanse with the Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner Set
- Deep condition for extra moisture
- Finish with the Coconut Oil Leave In Conditioner to lock in hydration.
I don’t have curly hair; can I still use your products?
Absolutely! While we specialize in curly and coily textures, many of our products—like our Shampoo & Conditioner —are universal. If you have straight or wavy hair, we recommend using smaller amounts to avoid weighing down your strands.
How do I determine my hair porosity?
Porosity refers to how well your hair absorbs and retains moisture.
-
High Porosity: Absorbs water quickly but loses it just as fast.
-
Low Porosity: Water tends to bead up on the surface and takes a long time to saturate. Knowing this helps you choose the right Joli Naturals routine! Routine & Application
How often should I use the Joli Naturals deep conditioner?
For coils, we recommend deep conditioning once a week or every other week. If your hair feels particularly brittle or dry, a weekly session will help restore elasticity.
Are Joli Naturals products "clean"?
We pride ourselves on transparency. Our formulas are free from harsh sulfates, drying alcohols, parabens, and silicones that can strip natural oils from curly hair.
Are your products safe for children?
Yes! Because we focus on gentle, plant-derived ingredients, Joli Naturals is a favorite for "mini-naturals." We always recommend a small patch test first to ensure no sensitivities.
Do you use synthetic fragrances?
We prefer to let our natural ingredients shine. Most of our scents come from essential oils and botanical extracts, giving you a spa-like experience without the harsh chemicals.
